Abstract

Protection of intellectual property rights is a great concern in the modern economies and its scope has increased from national to global level. Pakistan Customs service has transformed itself to protect national frontiers against the violations of Intellectual property rights at the import and export stage of the goods to play its dynamic role in socioeconomic development of the country. Previously conducted research on the intellectual property rights did not address the role of Pakistan Custom Service adequately. This article tried to fill in the gaps by highlighting the role of Pakistan Customs Service in countering the violations of the Intellectual property rights. This study is conducted by employing qualitative research method. Officials of Pakistan customs service perform their duties under certain prevalent laws for the enforcement of intellectual property rights. But like all other public organization Pakistan customs also face some challenges and limitation in the performance of their duties. However these challenges can be addressed through effective awareness campaigns and amending the existing legislature to cater the changing needs of the intellectual property rights violations.
